The Pestkapelle (Plague Chapel) Rum

The Pestkapelle (Plague Chapel) Rum

To the southwest of the village, nestled in the fields below the Rum-Dorf village school, is the modest "St. Mary's Visitation Chapel". The chapel is believed to have been built in the 17th century in memory of the plague years that lasted from 1611 to 1612, a time when the black death raged in Rum. The plague cemetery was probably in the area where the Plague Chapel stands today.
