Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen cable cars
From the city centre to the largest nature park in Austria in just a few minutes – you can enjoy this urban-alpine experience thanks to the Nordkettenbahnen lifts and cable cars! From strolling through the city one minute to looking down over the city's rooftops from an impressive mountain setting the next... now that really is the true definition of endless variety! Simply hop on the Hungerburgbahn funicular just outside of the historic old town and in eight minutes you will be up at the viewing platform at the final stop, Hungerburg. If you want to visit Europe's highest zoo along the way, you can get off in the middle at the Alpenzoo stop. When you disembark from the funicular at the Hungerburg lift station, simply cross the square and step into one of the panoramic cabins of the Nordkettenbahnen cable car. This will take you up to the Seegrube at an altitude of 1,905 metres above sea level, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Inn Valley and relax with delicious food at Restaurant Seegrube. From there, you can take another gondola ride up to the peak of this unique natural and panoramic experience: the 2,300-metre-high Hafelekar – the "Top of Innsbruck" – where you can enjoy alpine-urban freedom to the full! Don't forget to take a look at the events calendar: special events are held on the Nordkette mountain range year round.
People using the Nordkettenbahnen lifts, which include a funicular and two cable cars, can park in the city garage (Rennweg 3) all day (8 am to 6 pm) for only € 4. To take advantage of this, you need you get your parking ticket validated at the Nordkettenbahnen ticket desk at the Congress lift station.
