Accreditation

With several thousand people receiving accreditation for the Games, accreditation is one of the cornerstones of the WWMG 2020. Accreditation cards provide information about which areas the accreditation holder has access to. Volunteers will help to create, manage and issue accreditation cards as well as helping guests who wish to apply for or have lost their accreditation. As such, Accreditation Volunteers will be among the first people that athletes, partners, Volunteers and guests meet in Innsbruck.

Arrival by bus

Comfortable bus lines from Flixbus allow you to travel from anywhere in Europe to Innsbruck. Their buses drive multiple times per day directly to Innsbruck. We also recommend Flixbus for your shuttle service from the Munich airport to Innsbruck.

This will involve accompanying the athletes throughout the day, answering questions and solving any problems so that they enjoy their stay in Innsbruck. Can I register for more than one sport or do I have to choose one sport?

In principle, it is possible to register for several sports (exceptions: Ice Hockey, Curling). Only registered WWMG 2020 athletes will be admitted. To register for a second sport, you must be register in for one of the following sports: Biathlon, Figure Skating (Individual, Pairs or Ice Dance), Speed Skating, Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, Short Track, Alpine Skiing, Ski Mountaineering or Ski Jumping.

What would the Winter World Masters Games 2020 be without the opening and closing ceremonies? The Ceremonies Team is responsible for organising and carrying out these events as well as the medal ceremonies where athletes receive their gold, silver and bronze medals. With a cool head and fast hands, you will be involved in coordinating these events and giving a final briefing to the guests of honour who will hand out the medals to the successful athletes.

Event Operations

With so many people involved in the WWMG 2020, Event Services will play a very important role in making sure that the whole event runs smoothly. As a Volunteer you will assist athletes and officials at the training and competition venues. You will also help visitors and other persons interested in the Games with their questions. Your friendly welcome at accreditation checkpoints and information stands will make sure that guests have an unforgettable stay at the WWMG 2020.
 

Flights to Innsbruck

The airport Innsbruck stands for maximal comfort, short travel ways and individuality. International destinations such as Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main, or Vienna are on the daily schedule. You can easily takt the bus line F which gets you from the city center to the airport in just 12 minutes. The busses stop directly in front of the airport where you can also have the possibility to choose a cap.

“F & B”, as this working area is known, is a major part of the WWMG 2020. You will liaise between the Organising Committee and the caterer on-site to ensure that the right food is available timely for athletes, media representatives and Volunteers. We will do our very best to give you a job which matches your interests and qualifications. That is why we carry out a short interview with everyone who applies to become a Volunteer. We will also provide a general training session where we tell you about your tasks. Shortly before the start of the event there will be a further specific training session in which we will prepare you for what you will have to do during the Games.

First think about what your strengths are and what you like to do. Are you primarily interested in the sporting implementation of this mega-event or would you rather help people who have questions about it? Are you familiar with the digital camera? Do you like writing? Or are you more likely to be out and about in the field and help out with construction and conversion work? Is active insurance cover mandatory?

Yes. Each participant must take care of his/her own sufficient and valid accident, health, return transport, liability and, if necessary, cancellation insurance. Those insurances need to cover all possible medical and logistic costs that accrue before, while and after the Winter World Masters Games.

Is there a minimum age limit for Volunteers?

Yes. Volunteers working at the WWMG 2020 must be 16 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 have to present a declaration of consent, the latest at the orientation training, signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Volunteers wishing to work at the WWMG must be available for at least 5 days. The start and end of your working period will depend on your job. Event Operations

IT support, laying cables, drawing up radio frequency lists – these are just a few of the many areas you could find yourself working in if you decide to become a Technology Volunteer. Working behind the scenes, you will be responsible for video, sound, computers, printers and much more. Technology support is also provided on-site in all the venues.

Event Operations

The Logistic Team keeps transport, storage and distribution of everything linked to the WWMG 2020 running smoothly. Tasks include coordinating the punctual delivery and distribution of goods.
 
 

Marketing

Client Services

The Marketing Team will ensure that Innsbruck, Seefeld, Patscherkofel, Kitzbühel, Götzens and Telfs catch the “WWMG fever” by decorating these towns using banners, flags and signs. During the Games you will act as the primary contact person for WWMG partners and sponsors and help coordinate events they take part in. Or how about getting a different perspective on the event as one of the official WWMG 2020 mascots? Now is your chance!
 
 

Masters Games Village

General Management

Alongside the sports competitions, the side program “Master Games Village” is the second main pillar of the WWMG 2020. As a Volunteer you will support the international athletes in the many activities by leading workshops, providing information or helping with administration and coordination.
 
 

Media & Communication

Media & Communications

This working area includes writing texts, organising photos and communicating the latest stories via the WWMG 2020 digital and social media channels. You will also support the Media & Communication Team in preparing press conferences and interviews as well as with all other organisational tasks. Finally, you will be responsible for looking after the members of the national and international media attending the Games and assisting them wherever necessary.

Numerous people will arrive at the event with all kinds of verhicles. Wherever parking areas will be located (directly in Innsbruck, at the venues, ...) your skills will be tested - dealing with arriving and departing athletes, coaches and visitors as well as with their vehicles. As a member of our parking-team you will often be the first point of contact for them - lets give them a warm welcome and ensure that the rules on the premises are followed.

The Sport Team works in the venues and helps prepare the facilities (pistes, ice rinks, changing rooms and communal areas) for training sessions and competitions. The Alternatieve Elfstedentocht Weissensee takes place from 21. 01 to 01. 02. 2019 and is a place to be for all speed skaters, also for the Winter World Masters Games team. For more than 40 years, Cor Faber and his wife Hilly, are involved at the event. In a tent with the inscription “Schaatsservice”, which means as much as skating service, the likable Dutchman Cor Faber has his speed skating shoe workshop.

Tyrolean School Sports Winter Games

Youngsters from the local region will also have a chance to showcase their skills during the WWMG as part of the 3rd Tyrolean School Sports Winter Games, which will see school pupils from across Tyrol compete against each other in a wide range of winter disciplines. As a Volunteer you will look after the youngsters from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. This will include helping out at competitions, coordinating schedules and ensuring a great atmosphere amongst the participants.
 
 

Venue Management

Event Operations

Working as a Volunteer in Venue Management means being at the heart of the action. You will liaise with all other working areas and ensure perfect coordination between Transport, Food & Beverage Services, Event Services and Ceremonies. Your tasks will also include helping to set up spectator stands, barriers, tents, lights and sound equipment.

General Management

Volunteer Management coordinates and looks after all Volunteers working for the WWMG 2020. You will answer questions, hand out uniforms and help plan daily schedules. From your base in the Volunteer Center you will also be responsible for organising activities, selecting music for the chillout sessions and generally keeping all the Volunteers happy and motivated.
 
 

What means of payment and currencies are accepted?

The payment is integrated directly into the registration process - you are not registered as a participant until payment has been made. Only credit cards (including Visa and Mastercard) are accepted as means of payment. The currency used is the Euro (EUR).

The most important criterion for participation is your age. Hobby athletes as well as ambitious athletes can participate at the WWMG 2020. Will there be health and fitness checks before the event?

No, such checks are neither offered nor carried out by the organizer. Each participant must confirm in the course of his registration that he will have the necessary health conditions for participation checked by a suitable doctor in good time before participation in the event.
