Grassmayr Bell Museum
Grassmayr Bell Foundry
The traditional family business from Innsbruck has been providing sweet bell sounds throughout Europe for over 400 years. Over more than 14 generations, the Grassmayrs have continuously developed and perfected the art of bell founding. The pioneer in this field was Mortimer Grassmayr, who cast the first Grassmayr bell in 1599. This craft is both a science and a passion, requiring a great deal of feeling. For the Grassmayrs, it is a family affair. They have passed down the well-guarded secret of bell constructions – the so-called ribs – from father to son for generations.
Today, Grassmayr bells ring in almost 100 countries worldwide, filling towns and villages with their full, unmistakable sound.
